Prune it before June, not after the warning goes up.

Structural pruning opens the canopy so hurricane wind moves through the tree rather than carrying the whole thing over.

Most storm damage in Pinellas is not a healthy tree blowing over. It is a limb that was already dead, already cracked, or growing at an angle that gave the wind something to push against.

Pruning fixes that in advance. We thin the canopy so air moves through it instead of catching it like a sail, take out the deadwood, and shape what remains so the weight sits where the tree can carry it. A tree that has been maintained stands a far better chance through a named storm than one nobody has touched in ten years.

Timing matters more than people expect. Hurricane season opens on the first of June. The work should be finished before that, because once a storm has a name every crew in four counties is booked solid and the price of everything goes up.

The ordinary work too

Clearance over a roof so limbs stop dragging shingles off. Branches growing into the power drop. Palms, hedges, and mangroves. Mangroves are regulated under Florida law and we trim them to what the rules allow, which is a conversation worth having before somebody cuts one back too hard and the county gets involved.

Pruning is also a health question. Cut a tree wrong and you invite rot into the wound. Our arborists prune to the collar and leave the tree able to close over the cut on its own.

What we prune

  • Structural and hurricane-preparation pruning on hardwoods
  • Canopy thinning so wind passes through instead of pushing
  • Deadwood removal and crown cleaning
  • Roof, driveway and power-drop clearance
  • Palms, including frond and seed-pod removal
  • Hedges, and mangroves trimmed to what Florida law permits
  • Residential and commercial, including HOA and condominium grounds

Send a photo of the tree and we'll come back with a number.

A picture tells us most of what we need to know. Send one over and we can usually size up the job before anyone drives out to look at it.

  • 1.You send a photo and the address.
  • 2.We look at size, access, and what is sitting underneath it.
  • 3.You get the estimate in writing, and the invoice matches it.

Text a photo to (727) 544-3537 from wherever you are standing. Most people do it from the driveway in about ten seconds, and it is the fastest way to get a real number back.
